README - REVIT

Setup:

This README will guide you on how to bring in Revit Families from any of our Revit Kits into your projects. The example used throughout this README is found from our sample file that can be found on our website.

Step 1: Upon purchasing a Revit Kit and with Revit open, start by selecting “Open” under Models and navigate to where your downloaded Revit Kit file is located and open it.

Step 2:  You may be prompted to upgrade the downloaded Revit file if you aren’t using Revit 2018 as these families were created in Revit version 2018. Either way this won’t affect the process if you go ahead and upgrade the file to the latest version you’re using.

Step 3: You’ll be greeted with this screen upon opening. There’s two options for you to bring in the family from this container file. One option, “Load into Project,” does as it says by loading in this family to your project, but doesn’t close the container file. While the other option, “Load into Project and Close” will load the family into your project, AND close out the container file to reduce clutter/the amount of background processes in Revit if you’re opening multiple container files to access different families.

Step 4: Once you’ve picked either option to bring the family into your project. you’ll be brought into your project with the family already selected and ready to be placed anywhere in your project.

Step 5: After clicking to place the family you’re done!
